⬛ MANHATTAN

Upper West Side: E-Bike Kamikaze Caught Riding Against One-Way Traffic, Tussling With Cops

IT WAS HIS highway and despite cops’ protest — he refused to reroute.

A 40-year-old on the two-wheels was caught riding in the wrong direction back by Central Park West and West 65th Street on the morning of April 30.

When cops attempted to compel the battery-powered rebel — he allegedly attempted to shake them for two city blocks, according to the criminal complaint.

However, the eluding effort was cut short and he was fitted with cuffs. But authorities say he put up an aggressive struggle.

He was ultimately taken into custody and his chariot impounded.

Prosecutors hit the suspect with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest.

⬛ THE BRONX

▀ Coke Courier Service And Posh Stash House Given Heave-Ho (Bronx, NY)

A VIP DRUG biz reaping a quarter of a million dollars in profits was suddenly done for.

The white-gloved delivery service kept a flat inside a high-end 26-story sliver in trendy Port Morris as its HQ.

And it’s where narcos bagged 22-pounds of cocaine.

Members of the NYC Special Narcotics Prosecutor's Office appeared on Sunday at 6 a.m. to execute search warrants at the stash house located at 5 Lincoln Avenue.

There they evidence-tagged a fleet of cars (with funds secreted in various compartments) and used in deliveries, recovering $200,000 in cash, two pistols, electric money counting machines, and thousands of vials of cocaine bound for sale in the five boroughs.

Four dope peddlers were arrested and face drug possession charges and two of the men face additional gun possession charges.

All four men were ordered held on bail at arraignment on Monday at Manhattan Criminal Court.

Find out why 200K+ engineers read The Code twice a week

Staying behind on tech trends can be a career killer.

But let’s face it, no one has hours to spare every week trying to stay updated.

That’s why over 200,000 engineers at companies like Google, Meta, and Apple read The Code twice a week.

Here’s why it works:

  • No fluff, just signal – Learn the most important tech news delivered in just two short emails.

  • Supercharge your skills – Get access to top research papers and resources that give you an edge in the industry.

  • See the future first – Discover what’s next before it hits the mainstream, so you can lead, not follow.

⬛ BROOKLYN

Flatbush: Goon Double-Fisting A Stake Tool And Knife Caught Pestering Man, Asking Him ‘Are You Fucking Muslim?’

THE BIGOT WASN’T subtle.

A 71-year-old menace with a big mouth allegedly browbeat a man walking on Newkirk Avenue back on the early morning of Sept. 30, 2024.

The senior was toting a stake tool in one hand and a blade in the other.

And he allegedly confronted the innocent pedestrian and hurled epithets.

“Are you fucking Muslim,” he allegedly asked.

The victim was rattled by the threat of attack and unsettling questions.

For whatever reason, the suspect wasn’t taken to task until April 7 of this year.

His comeuppance involved being hit with menacing (with a weapon) as a hate crime, aggravated harassment (based on race or religion), and weapons possession (with intent to use).

⬛ QUEENS

Flushing: Molly Pill Pusher Busted 2 Years After Dealing To Undercover

A SMALL TIME slinger was free for two years until he was finally nabbed for dealing MDMA pills to undercovers.

The hustler’s first deal was documented on the late afternoon of April 11, 2024.

The place was the Gold City Supermarket on Kissena Boulevard.  Authorities say he met with the undercover and accepted three C-notes in exchange for a baggie filled with 20 ecstasy pills. The pills amounted to 7.340 grams.

He then continued to meet with the same narc to transact more deals.

* On the evening of April 23, 2024 the same supermarket spot, the suspect gave $360 for another 20 pills.

* On the evening of May 21, 2024, the same perp met with an undercover again, but at a different spot, on 162nd Street. This time the suspect collected $300 for 16 MDMA pills.

* On the night of June 18, 2024, in a very residential nabe on 156th Street, the suspect met with the undercover again to deal 14 MDMA pills in the Ziploc bag for $300.

For whatever reason the investigators let the suspect carry on as if he was the cleverest dope dealer keeping everybody guessing.

That was until April 28 of this year, when the hammer came down and the accused was nailed for criminal sale of a controlled substance (unspecified stimulant).

⬛ STATEN ISLAND

Clifton: ‘I Paid $500 For The Plate!’: Woman Caught With Bogus Florida Plates… And Coke

THE FISHER PRICE handiwork on the the woman’s license plate was sort of explainable. But the coke was a conversation ender.

The 49-year-old woman riding in a red 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe back at around 11 a.m. on April 26.

Cops traffic stopped the woman as she rolled through the intersection of Osgood Avenue and Van Duzer Street.

Noting the plain paper and remedial craftsmanship of the license plate on plain paper (rather than legitimate waterproof paper as

valid Florida plates require).

Pressed about the plate’s provenance, the woman, who also failed to produce a valid driver’s license, claimed she shelled out top dollar for the forgery.

“I paid $500 for the plate,” she allegedly told the officer.

An hour later the woman’s explanations were clearly failing.

So when she was processed at the 120 Precinct cops lucked on a yellow Ziploc baggie with coke in it.

The woman was formally charged with driving without a license, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, possession of a forged instrument, and criminal possession of a controlled substance (crack).

Sean O'Dubhghaill, Special to The Blotter

A STONE COLD killer, who copped to slaying elderly women in Brooklyn, learned he will croak in prison.

Kevin Gavin, 71, was dealt a 30 year to life bit when he appeared in Brooklyn Supreme Court, following his confession to murdering three elderly neighbors in a Brooklyn public housing complex over a five year span.

Gavin, who remained behind bars awaiting trial since his 2021 bust, cut a deal with prosecutors in April, agreeing to plead guilty to the three homicides, sparing taxpayers the taxing costs of a lengthy trial.

Cops pinned Gavin to the murder spree after they learned he had ran errands and did small repairs in the womens’ homes.

The bloodletting started back on Nov. 9, 2015 when Myrtle McKinney, 82, was found lifeless inside her apartment at the Carter G. Woodson Houses at 393 Powell Street in Brownsville by her health care attendant.

The cause of death was first believed to be the result of natural causes — but the NYC Medical Examiner re-classified the death a homicide after they determined she had a stab wound to the rear, left side of her neck.

He struck again.

At around 11 p.m. on April 30, 2019, Jacolia James, 83, was also found dead inside her apartment. She had been last seen alive by her grandson at 7 p.m..

James had suspicious injuries to her face and neck.

Then on January 15, 2021, the body of 78-year-old Juanita Caballero was lying in her apartment (the same as Ms. James) with a telephone chord wrapped around her neck.

Her untimely death was ruled murder by asphyxiation.

Cops said they found evidence at the scene that connected all three deaths and they closed in on the common link between all three victims, their Mr. Fix-It neighbor — Gavin who did odd jobs for the women.

The suspect was also handy with hard time. Having racked up eight prior arrests for drug possession, burglary and weapon possession.

Investigators were convinced Gavin was their man after he was caught on surveillance video using Caballero's debit card on several occasions following her murder.

He was finally arrested on January 20, 2021, and waived his Miranda rights to remain silent, quickly confessing to the three murders. He claimed he was especially sore that the women owed him for outstanding odd jobs he had done for them.

⬛ WANTED V. NABBED

▀ Chain Snatchers (Bronx, NY)

TWO DESPERADOS JACKED a 60-year-old driving a Hyundai Elantra.

The perps bumrushed the driver minutes after 5:30 a.m. on May 11 as he was parked outside University Avenue.

One of the masked thugs flashed a pistol while his crime partner grabbed the driver and yanked his chain from his neck. Then they kicked him out the car.

One of the two then fired off a round and they scrammed… in the man’s Hyundai.

They remain on the loose.
