⬛ MANHATTAN
▀ Chelsea: Sneakerhead Busted Swiping Nikes From Doorstep
SOMEONE’S NEW KICKS were lifted before they could wear them.
A 51-year-old opportunist strolled into a swanky lobby inside a building dotted on West 18th Street and 10th Avenue early morning on Oct. 21.
The suspect wasn’t too slick though.
Because he was captured on CCTV ripping open the magnetic door of lobby and then trespassing into the foyer to get his hands on the package (the kicks were valued at $85).
The footage helped investigators pin the rap on the perp — who definitely didn’t live in the ritzy pad.
The suspect faces burglary and trespass. As for the shoes and if they were returned to the rightful owner — there is no conclusion.

⬛ THE BRONX
▀ Rikers Island: Gold Chain Ganking Killer Suspect Caught With Contraband
AN INMATE WAS caught with questionables while waiting on his murder rap at Rikers.
The 29-year-old was rearrested inside the prison back on Sept. 29 for being in possession of contraband.
The suspect had been held without bail since 2021 when the accused and three others (two of them female) were charged for gunning down a 28-year-old man for his gold chain as he was sitting inside his parked car at his Washington Heights home.
Now, on top of the homicide charge — he’s facing possession of contraband in prison.

Cities Are Running Out of Salt Before Winter Even Starts

Road salt is one of those things nobody thinks about until plow trucks come back empty, and this year that's happening before the first snowfall. Some cities haven't gotten a single bid for winter supply, while others are paying nearly double last year's price.
North America doesn't mine enough of its own, which is why it ships in 8 to 10 million tonnes from places like Egypt and Chile, two weeks away by boat.
Atlas Salt (TSXV: SALT | OTCQX: SALQF) is building a mine in Newfoundland near a deepwater port where ships can reach Boston in three days. With salt, the real cost is in shipping, and CEO Nolan Peterson says the difference is so big that overseas producers could give their salt away and still come out more expensive than Atlas. The project is shovel-ready and projected to generate roughly C$188 million a year in free cash flow.

⬛ BROOKLYN
▀ Ridgewood: Tech-Savvy Mugger Menaces Man For Hundreds By Transferring Dough To Cash App Account

A KNIFE-WIELDING KNAVE took a mark for hundreds of digital dollars.
At around 10 a.m. on Aug. 28, the 27-year-old goon allegedly ambushed a man outside a brownstone located on Stockholm Street and Irving Avenue, and squawked at him to cough up his greenbacks.
“Give me money,” he allegedly commanded.
But this wasn’t the perennial perp in a holdup for a wallet or jewelry. No, this scoundrel was savvy.
He pressed his mark to give up his phone and transfer $80 from the victim’s Cash App to his account.
And when that was completed, the suspect forced the victim to move $500 more.
The cyber shakedown artist netted months later on Oct. 20.
He faces a slew of charges including dangerous instrument, grand larceny (exporting through threat of violence), grand larceny from a person, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use.

⬛ QUEENS
▀ Elmhurst: Gal’s Ex Girlfriend Shirks Judge’s Protection Order Vowing To ‘Kill You And Your Kid’
A FORMER LOVER brazenly ignored an order to steer clear of a woman she dated by hurling death threats.
The 31-year-old woman allegedly contacted her ex on the afternoon of Oct. 6.
Authorities say she rang the one time romantic interest to make clear she was all about making a wrong even worse.
“I am going to kill you and your kid,” the woman told her, according to the criminal complaint.
Two days later at around 3 a.m., the same surly woman unsuccessfully tried to sign into the woman’s iCloud account. When she looked at the source of the person trying to log on, the number traced back to the suspect.
Four hours later that same day, the suspect appeared in-person to speak with the victim.
It’s unclear what she said.
All three incidents fly in the face of a judge’s July 26 order of protection to stay away; an order that extended to July 19, 2028.
The woman was busted for unauthorized use of a computer, aggravated harassment (threat), and violation of an order of protection.

⬛ STATEN ISLAND
▀ Egbertville: ‘I Have A Lawyer!’: Grifter Caught Opening Amex Card With Stolen Identity, Going On Lavish Spending Spree — Including Paying Attorney Fees
SHE HAD A thing for plastic.
A 58-year-old alleged con woman was nabbed after allegedly using another person’s intel to open an American Express account and then went wild with her spending.
On July 21, authorities say the suspect used another woman’s name and email to secure the credit card.
She then took the card and made a series of purchases tallying $3,000.
Among them she allegedly used the Amex card to buy goods and services.
She made purchases at Euphoria jewelry store, I’ll Be Seeing You Optical.
She also used it to pay for a $1,351.60 spa day at Butterfly Aesthetics where they preach facial fillers.
And $7,500 to pay for her attorney.
And when the jig was up and she was wearing cuffs and led out from her Lincoln Avenue home, she allegedly preached about the same legal counsel paid for with another person’s money.
“I have a lawyer,” she boasted and then named him.
The woman was taken down for identity theft, grand larceny, and petit larceny.
