⬛ MANHATTAN
▀ Midtown: Thug Tagged For Striking Infant With Cell Phone Toss
A SCUMBAG BEAMED a baby girl being strollered by her mom in Bryant Park with a cell phone.
He then tried to get a lick in on the woman as well.
The 50-year-old perp was lurking around the popular park back at around 10 a.m. on July 18.
Cops say a mother, 39, was enjoying a walk with her infant daughter by the Sixth Avenue and 41st Street side.
The suspect, who allegedly didn’t know the woman, hurled a cell phone at the baby, striking her arm.
He then grabbed the same device and launched it at the mother.
But he missed her.
Cops took the phone-tossing derelict into custody at the scene.
They determined he had an outstanding theft warrant from May 18 involving.
He was not only taken to task for that but also charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing injury to a person less than 7-years-old, acting in a manner injurious to a child, and aggravated harassment.
▀ Chinatown: Who Is Gilgo Beach’s ‘Asian Doe’?
THE GILGO BEACH Murders may have been cracked. But for the bodies found in the vicinity — closure remains elusive.
Rex Heuermann, 62, copped to eight murders.
He was sentenced in earlier this summer to three life sentenced without parole plus 100 years.
The bodies he was charged with — all women — were all found in a geographic mass grave area off Gilgo Beach, Suffolk County, Long Island.
However, there is now a widening scope conjuring whether Heuermann may have been honing his craft earlier than admitting.
As part of his plea allocution, Heuermann admitted to his first murder on November 19, 1993, the strangulation murder of Sandra Castilla, 28, whose body was found by hunters off Fish Cove Road in the town of North Sea in South Hampton.
Heuermann would have been 32-years -old at the time of committing his first murder. The last of serial killings that he has been charged with and pleaded guilty to was in 2010 by his own account.
He was arrested July 13, 2023.
There is a strong suspicion that Castillo was not his first kill and that the self-admitted strangulation of Amber Costello, 27, in September 2010 wasn’t his last.
As part of his plea deal, Heuermann must meet with FBI profilers behind bars so they can get a better sense of the behavior and the mind of a serial killer.
"Asian John Doe," is an unsolved crime for which he has not confessed nor been charged. The body of an unidentified Asian man in his 20s was found along the Gilgo Beach burial ground; he was found wearing women's clothing and a wig.
Tierney and volunteers from the Suffolk PD along with prosecutors visited Manhattan's Chinatown last week during National Night Out Against Crime to collect DNA samples from the large Asian community to help tie the victim to a geographic area in China or a possible familial DNA match to help identify the victim and trace his last movements.
