⬛ COURTHOUSE Q & A

▀ EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Victim Becomes The Villain’: Woman Busted Along With Ex In Domestic Clash (Kew Gardens, NY)

The 36-year-old chef is disturbed after appearing before a judge for assault, claiming she was being punished when it was her ex who ‘tried to kill me’ in Guinness bottle, choking attack

HOW DID SHE find herself locked up despite claiming she was nearly killed?

A woman, whom The Blotter is calling "Jane", was clobbered by her live-in ex who choked and bludgeoned her with a Guinness.

Jane claims she fought back with whatever she could grab before blacking out: in this case a vape pen and a cologne bottle.

The 36-year-old woman's suffering was evident in her stitched-up face when she spoke to The Blotter. Despite this, Jane is dealing with criminal charges in the domestic dustup.

The mother of two children (ages 13 and 2) who works as a chef recounts what transpired outside Queens court in Kew Gardens, heading to her basement flat in St. Albans back on Aug. 14.

Her ex, 44, rang her several times her on the phone. When she finally picked up, he allegedly makes a most dire threat: "I'm gonna punch you in your face."

She quickly hung up.

Once she gets home, she's first greeted by the embrace of her daughter.

The woman recalls walking to her bedroom to get dolled up for a birthday celebration with her restaurant coworkers.

But Jane saw the monster was already lurking.

Jane called her coworker who had dropped her off to her home and pleaded, "Turn back!"

But her friend needed superpower speed.

Because the ex pounced — digging his nails into her, punching her face and bashing her forehead with a Guinness beer bottle. He then choked her to the point that Jane blacked out.

When Jane came to, she was lying down.

In each hand she remembered was a cologne bottle and a vape pen.

The first instinct was to start "swinging".

‘I don’t remember stabbing him!’

-’Jane’ on responding to claims her ex suffered injuries in their Aug. 14 dispute

At some point the suspect who allegedly beat her into brief comatose suffered a stab wound.

But Jane is at a loss.

"I don't remember stabbing him," she attested.

Her friend finally arrived. As did the cops.

‘I don't understand how somebody can attack you and you end up being the criminal.’

-The mother remains confounded by her being hauled into jail for suffering a brutal attack at the hands of her 44-year-old live-in ex.

Despite her dizzied state, the woman gathered her strength to tag along with officers to ID her attacker who had driven off. He was swiftly found sitting in a parked car nearby.

"They asked me, 'Is it him?'"

She answered, "Yes, it's him."

The aggressor faces assault with a weapon (the Guinness), strangulation, menacing, and acting a manner injurious to a child less than 17-years-old.

But prosecutors also charged Jane with assault with a weapon causing injury.

The now victim defendant claims she later awoke in a hospital bed cuffed at the ankle and wrist.

The woman who suffered and was fearing how to go forward (given she still shares the home with the beer bottle choker) claims she feels like the authorities have gone too far.

"I don't understand how somebody can attack you and you end up being the criminal," Jane said.

Overcome with the wretching feeling coming out of court, Jane bluntly states how in this case, "The victim becomes the villain."

Harlem: Crack Slinging Parolee Caught Plying Rocks While Cops Pass Popcorn

HE WAS BACK at it.

A seasoned crack slinger ws busted putting on a show before a cop audience.

The 57-year-old perp had been granted release after serving a two prison bits for drugs.

And while he could taste some freedom, he couldn’t help himself.

He was witnessed on the night of Aug. 4 selling some crack on 125th Street and Lenox Avenue to a willing buyer, 54, who offered him cash.

Once the sale tendered — cops moved in and took both of them down.

When they searched the suspects they found the seller had more than half an ounce of crack while his customer had the small single serving sized amount he just bought.

The seller was brought up on criminal possession of a controlled substance (crack/with intent to sell).

At his hearing, the crack dealer pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors painted him as a predicate felon with several drug hits on his rap sheet. And that not only would he face serious hard time if convicted — but he would be a flight risk if let-go.

But the judge cut him a break before cutting him loose. He was set free on supervised release with conditions.

All three were rushed to Bellevue Hospital and treated for the stab wounds.

It was around 4:20 p.m. on June 17 when the visitors arrived.

‘Don’t get involved in this!’

-metal bat toting suspect to 67-year-old homeowner

And the 67-year-old woman didn’t recognize the visitors to her Creston Avenue home.

“Tony, come out,” the woman ringleader belted.

But the homeowner replied, “There is no Tony here.”

That was like fussing with a dog’s kibble while they were chowing down.

The woman took her bat and shoved it against the older woman’s neck, shoving her backwards, causing the woman to suffer a contusion to her right index finger against the door that she was ragdolled.

“Don’t get involved in this,” the perp, 42, warned.

The gang of miscreants took their hunt upstairs.

Not long after the perps evaporated.

Investigators tracked down the suspect (though they couldn’t find her three sidekicks) and took her down for burglary of a dwelling, assault (victim 65 or older), criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing, and weapons possession (with intent to use).

Inside her backpack was a Glock 19 pistol with a fully loaded 9mm cartridge magazine.

‘I don’t know how the gun got in the bag.’

-19-year-old woman stumped trying to explain away loaded pistol found in her bag

Cops were summoned and they determined that the woman didn’t have a permit for the weapon.

After she was Mirandized, cops quizzed her about it.

“Yeat, that’s my bag,” she allegedly told them during questioning, then explained, “I don’t know how the gun got in the bag.”

The explanation didn’t add up for the authorities who summarily

booked her for weapons and ammo raps.

Port Morris: Perp Pimping 2 Hookers, Busted With ‘Tusi’

HE WAS LORDING over the kind of domicile where men come and go at their pleasure.

A 30-year-old skin peddler was inside a building located on Bruckner and St. Ann’s Avenues back on Aug. 6 where he was trying to offer two women up to potential johns.

Cops say it was around 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 when he was caught in a sting.

An undercover striking up a conversation with the suspect and pretending to be keen to score some loving — was offered a chance to get lucky with two prostitutes for a C-note.

The would-be john, according to the criminal complaint, supplied the cash.

While doing so, the suspected pimp was extra loose with his belt bag that allegedly contained a fat Ziploc baggie filled with pink cocaine, nicknamed “Tusi”, a popular pink-hued cocaine.

The drug became a hallmark during the rise of the ruthless Venezuelan gang Tren De Aragua in Gotham.

The perp in this case who was suckered into exposing himself as a human trafficker — was subsequently taken away to a cage where he faces promoting prostitution and drug possession.

East Flatbush: Deviant Donning ConEd Vest Forces Way Into Home, Pistol Whips Hubby Then Runs Off With Wife’s Purse

A CALCULATED JOKER dressed up as a utility worker to tune up a couple and steal away with their loot.

The 56-year-old allegedly stood outside the pair’s home wearing a bright ConEd vest located at East 54th Street on the afternoon of July 20.

The brute barged in and immediately grabbed hold of her neck.

Her husband tried Batman the situation — but was quickly neutralized by the bad guy’s unrelenting pistol-whipping mitt.

Shortly after, the couple rang the authorities.

When she allegedly decided to trot with them without paying a dime — the store clerk confronted her, according to the criminal complaint.

Being accused of theft of the wigs (tallying a whopping $820) didn’t sit well with the accused.

So rather than repent or forfeit the hot hair — she instead found a broom and took hold of it and bashed the woman with it several times.

Cops were summoned and they caught up to the woman with the stolen wares in her possession.

Under questioned, the woman allegedly copped to the larceny.

“I did take the items,” she stated, the papers say.

HIS UNRELENTING KNOCKS at the door were answered with a curt rebuke.

But the man, 49, was undaunted.

And he kept on knocking.

It was around 9 p.m. on April 10 and the suspect refused to scram.

So the tenant opened the door. And the interloper saw the crack and despite being denied, he pressed his bodyweight against it and overpowered the woman inside.

‘I’m not leaving!’

-49-year-old stalker to woman after pushing way into her home

She backed up and as he stepped forward the wolf was in the henhouse now.

Pleas were made for him to take a hike. Again.

And he muttered, “I’m not leaving!”

At some point he took a hint and left.

But the moment apparently inspired him to embark on a campaign to bother the woman from morning and night with a series of unwanted phone calls, voicemails and texts — all coming from an unknown caller ID.

On Aug. 3, the suspect was finally taken into custody and charged with stalking (causing fear), criminal trespass, harassment, aggravated harassment (making a threat).

“I am JFK taxi service,” was the 27-year-old’s austere pitch.

And just like that they were rolling away in the suspect’s blue 2025 Toyota en route to the Marriott Hotel in Times Square, the criminal complaint reads.

-Rogue driver soliciting a tourist with jacked-up ride to Times Square hotel

Once there, the driver informed the fare that he was on the hook for a grand total of $563.64.

He asked the victim, “Can you pay cash?”

The sticker shock apparently stunned the passenger.

And why shouldn’t it?

A flat fare from JFK is $70 (minus tip), according to the airport’s official website.

The driver was hoping for dead presidents but had to settle for squaring the eye-watering bill with Apple Pay.

Afterward, the victim reported the excessive charge by the unsanctioned driver who never utilized a meter.

He was subsequently nailed for fraudulent accosting and unlawful solicitation of ground transportation services.

“Are you a faggot?”

The nightmarish rube didn’t seem to have exercised all the demons.

For he kept on dogging the suspect by “repeatedly” calling him a faggot, according to the criminal complaint.

At one point the customer decided to get away from the punk.

But that same hater had already hopped on a bicycle and was nipping at his heels.

Then he steered ahead and slapped the customer.

▀ Hell-Bent Speakeasy Plying Illegal Booze Despite Warring With City In Court (Corona, NY)

The NYPD is looking to hit a Queens landlord where it hurts — in his wallet.

Why?

For letting a cafe tenant run rampant like an underground bacchanal and falling behind in rent.

The legal woes for "Cafe Valdez", a Colombian restaurant boasting a secret basement bar, began in November of 2022.

That’s when an inspection task force headed up by cops from the 110th Precinct along with FDNY, the Buildings Department and the Department of Environmental Protection — each paid an impromptu visit to the speakeasy-esque joint on Junction Blvd near Roosevelt Avenue in the predominately Latin immigrant section of Corona.

When they arrived, the inspectors discovered a fully stocked bar handles of Buchanan's whiskey and Patron tequila, as well as cold Corona and Modelo beers.

Only one hitch: the biz lacked a valid liquor license.

A woman tending bar was arrested for operating an illegal bottle club.

Undercover officers returned to the cafe about 5 p.m. on December 17 and in the basement space they found that the initial message didn’t intimidate the Valdez Cafe diehards.

That night there were some 30 party people having a gay old time as the the space had turned up its aesthetic with strobe lights and hookah pipes. And the booze was flowing again too.

Cops moved in and arrested four of the operators and hit them for operating an illegal bottle club.

The NYPD Legal Bureau initiated a nuisance abatement court case, dragging the property owner into Queens Civil Supreme Court seeking a temporary injunction to close the property and padlocked it for one year based upon the criminal activities.

As the legal civil case worked it's way through the court system, cops from the 110 Precinct made yet another visit to Valdez. This time they entered the establishment at 11 p.m. on June 11, 2025, following a stabbing inside the premises a week prior.

Wouldn’t you know it? They found a fully stocked bar despite lacking a liquor license.

The NYPD won the first round of the ongoing battle, when the court granted a 60-day closure of the Valdez from Jan, 2 to March 3 of this year under the penalty of a $1,000 a day fine for every day the business operated in violation of the order.

Two undercover officers followed up with another looksee on March 14, 2026. But this time, they were searched by security at the door, charged $10 to enter and on the hook to plunk down $150 for a bottle of Don Julio tequila, $15 for a mixed drink and $10 for a RedBull mixer.

They would visit the Valdez two more times — on March 21 and March 28 – again purchasing illicit hooch, dropping $225 on the bill plus a $15 tip over the two visits, according to court papers.

The NYPD is back in court fighting to padlock the premise for up to a year.

▀ Man Who Slain A Construction Worker Grandma In Jealousy Fit, Dies In Prison (Rome, NY)

A man convicted of fatally gunning down a female member of a construction crew in the Bronx in a jealous rage, has croaked behind bars, just two years into a life sentence.

Jose E. Reyes, 71, was discovered dead at Mohawk Correctional Facility on Aug. 23.

The cause of death is unknown and still being investigated.

Reyes was convicted of murder two years ago after a 15 day trial. He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Reyes was infatuated with a Brooklyn grandmother named Lizbeth Mass.

The 52-year-old was adored as a friendly face on the City Island, while working on a construction crew for about a year.

Reyes got to know her in that time, stopping at lunch to chat and even bringing her a sandwich on occasion, cops said at the time.

However, investigators determined that there was no romantic connection between the two.

On April 14, 2021, about 12:30 p.m., Reyes rode his bike to the job site on the Island’s main drag, City Island Avenue near Cross Street.

There, he saw Mass talking to another man.

That man was her boyfriend. But seeing her with him caused Reyes to become overwhelmed by rage, prosecutors alleged at trial.

The boyfriend, 58, later testified that he saw Reyes pulling out a gun and fired three times, hitting the woman in the back leg and hip.

In his escape bid, the boyfriend ran Reyes over with his Hyundai Sonata.

Fellow hardhats restrained Reyes and secured his .44 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver until police arrived.

Mass was taken to the hospital where she died. Reyes, who was also hospitalized, survived.

The court later learned that Reyes, who worked as a handyman doing odd jobs around the neighborhood, had stolen the gun from his employer's home, a retired NYPD officer.

The murder shook the quiet waterside hamlet of City Island to its core. Residents raised nearly $3,000 to dedicate a memorial bench in Bridge Park near the scene in honor of Mass.
